Our buddy Evelyn is a curious, clingy full on toddler now. She asks to “walk” rather than stroll. She finally sleeps well (Thanks PLS) and she throws brief but high pitched tantrums that end with her dramatically draped on the floor or covering her eyes as if to cry and shouting “oh boo!” in protest. 17th Month Update

The Sullivan family unit is still intact post 6 months of VT (pansy) winter, a remodel, a sleepless child, 5 ear infections and 2 months of first trimester nausea. Pent up angst went into tree trimming leveling, which saved most of our sanity and kept Ev entertained as Nancy sat around waiting for nausea and stick seasons to pass. Continue reading
A Family Vacation to Florida

Dad win deserves a poolside beer upon arrival to Manasota Beach Club in Florida. After a 3 hour car ride due to unexpected backups and a daring median maneuver by Matt in our rental Hyundai, we made it to a glorious peaceful gulf side key. Matt scored the Ibis house with a refreshing pool just steps to the beach. Matt came here as a kid and apparently it hasn’t changed much in terms of decor and vibe, but it was perfect for us. No glitz. No others on the beach. Complete privacy. We were in heaven. Oh, and we had a separate bedroom for Evvie, a washer and dryer and a bathtub #babypriorities. Continue reading
Messier Hill Update

A week away from the Messier Hill project prompted oohs and aahs as we finally got back in the house. Drywall was up. The dark window stains were primed and there was a stunning stack of 15″ VT pine boards in the living room. Ev interpreted this as progress in her playground and spent 20 minutes walking back and forth with her walking stick. Continue reading
Westward with the Waddler

The first big decision to make when packing the baby bag for the trip to the PNW wss which naked doll to bring. Big Baby and Original Baby made the cut (for those interested). Continue reading
Change Fees

Bluebird, icy cold days brought 3 Northwesterners to New England. The wary travelers endured canceled flights and red eyes to arrive. Thanks, weather gods. Your white, fluffy trickery worked. They changed their flights on the other end and stuck around the gambrel palace a few more days. Continue reading
Christmas 2015

Thank you siblings for the heavy lifting to get all our furniture, a tree, a cord of wood and some booze into the house before Christmas. We’re forever grateful for your enthusiasm and stamina.
Last month, baby.

Our 11 month old (what?!) Evvie continues her approach to toddlerhood. We can calm a fussy mood by holding her hands and walking anywhere. She grins wide and squeals with pride (or so I project). She plays independently with plastic barn animals, rocking chairs, butter cartons, whisks, but her corolle babies (vanilla scented) are still the favorites. She coos for books to be read over and over again with Nana. The Good Night Train and Brown Bear Brown Bear are already showing wear.

A little summary of our first week:

A week went by quickly at the original Sullivan house. We all survived. No one is yet CAGE positive. Evvie enjoyed her first 28 degree day bundled like a Seattleite by her clueless mother. She placed “long puffy coat” on the top of her Christmas list to Kate Santa. Continue reading
10 Month Photo Dump
Evvie is a busy little human. She curiously cruises around with her funky crawl and pulls herself eagerly up to stand. She can balance for several seconds and is beginning to control her fall. Speaking of falls, she’s taken several tumbles down the new stairs at Bainbridge and hit her head on a good many tables, but she continues her exploratory mission with gusto.
She’s very vocal. Ba ba and da da da are among her favorites. She eats everything lentils, sausage, baguettes and fish (both the fresh and gold varietals). Continue reading
