A week away from the Messier Hill project prompted oohs and aahs as we finally got back in the house. Drywall was up. The dark window stains were primed and there was a stunning stack of 15″ VT pine boards in the living room. Ev interpreted this as progress in her playground and spent 20 minutes walking back and forth with her walking stick.
The kitchen door (soon to be replaced) opens into the new mud room and into the kitchen. The new powder room has been claimed by Evelyn. Marvin cottage windows are all new and bring glorious filtered light throughout the day.
Cabinetry, designed by Allen lumber, is beautiful, but slightly grayer on site, which completely threw my color choices (Benjamin Moore Sheep’s Wool, BM Simple White and BM White Dove). So, now I’m panicked and overwhelmed by Jon’s request that I make a wall color decision this week. How are there so many GD shades of white?

It’s all good, says Evelyn. I’ll just live here.
Fast forward another week and the floors are installed and they are awesome. The square nails “nail” the farmhouse look. Unfortunately, we’re now forced into a stain versus tongue oil decision that will also keep me up.
But as fascinating as my decision agony, I’ll spare that drama and here is the finished product. Tongue oil it is. 3 meticulous coats over 3 days. I’m hoping no one plans to walk on it.

Ta Da! Love it. And logging should begin this week (because it’s going to snow!??) and then I just plan to camp out here all day and stare out the window.
Paint suggestions??
